• Hello, been trying to find a firm in London, ideally, who can provide advice and then manage the above.

However, searches mostly bring me firms who act for premier league clubs, national bodies etc. Can't find any that could work with a small cycle club.

So, if any of you have been involved with moving a club from being an unincorporated body to becoming a CIC or other then I'd be glad to hear from you.

  • What's "tricky" about it? If it's about the governance and setting up a CIC, the charity team at most firms would be able to do this? Why does the firm need to be in London? Having said that you could try Andrew Studd at Russell-Cooke - https://www.russell-cooke.co.uk/people/andrew-studd/ - depending on the complexity, he would find the right person in his team.

  • I ve set up a couple of CICs. It's not that difficult and there is enough templates and guidance docs online on the .Gov site
    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/community-interest-companies-business-activities

Youll need mem&arts and proper accounts.

It may take a few submissions before they accept the application as tiny errors get noticed. (Though this was more likely due to my ineptitude)

CIC is much easier that setting up a charity

  • Thanks, complex bit is going to be the conveyance. We are an unincorporated body that "owns" property. Deeds and titles are pre war and the land is unregistered.

Yes, happy to go outside of London and I ve found a few firms who seem to have done this sort of work in Sussex, Yorkshire, Newcastle.
