Side or centre-pull type?

I still got your old Tektro R536 brakeset you want them back.
-
• #4
Oh that'd be great actually! I'll shoot you a PM.

I'm also looking for some side pull long reach if you have anything suitable if ltc is sorted now?
-
• #6
Will have a rummage :)
What sort of reach, +60? -
• #7
Great cheers, 60ish would be ideal

Ah, sorry man. I know I had a set of weinmann 730’s but they seemed to have been ‘borrowed’ by my family - only have these GB’s now.
Needs the bolts and blocks but nice and springy and lovely blue enamel head bolt lol. 60mm maximum reach also.
Probably a bit retro for what you’re after? Anyroad, £15 posted if they’re any use. Think I brought them for £25/30, fitted but didn’t use for a ‘60’s build.

Bit on the retro side for my build but thanks though

Turns out I don't know how to use a ruler and the Tektros I picked up from Mr Billygoat don't have a long enough drop! The Tektros are max 57mm of drop, I think I'll need more like 65ish if anyone has something that would suit lying around.

Relatively certain I have a mismatched pair of alhonga's long reach, 70 max I believe, but currently only found 1. Either way free if of interest?
-
• #13
Got some 73mm Tektro's. Brand new though.

Thanks a lot for the kind offer but I'll pass I think! This is for a bike I'm building to try and get my girlfriend back in to cycling so I think she'd feel more confident with something more modern looking.

Can I respectfully get in line for anybody selling some with 70mm reach? Pref in silver
-
• #16
If anyone can't wait, Condor make a few versions of decent deep drop brakes.
-
• #17
I've PMed you!

Also, if anyone is after a set of Tektro R536 which have up to 57mm of drop for a tenner, let me know.

I've got a set of Alhongas in silver, long drop I'll double check the drop in daylight tomorrow.....
-
• #20
I think ive got some scruffy unbranded dial pivots?
-
• #21
These Alhongas are max 70mm drop.
Free if you want to collect from KT4 or I could post at cost next week ?

If you wouldn't mind posting that would be great! I'll shoot you a PM. I might end up splashing the cash on something a bit more modern sooner rather than later but these would be great as a stop gap to get the bike on the road. I'd be happy to pass them on to another forum member if that is the case.

Regarding newer ones: but from where? And which brakes? Turning out to be a bit of a conundrum. I can see one set of tektros available at 60 quid but most other google suggestions are out of stock. Seems punchy just to not have to deal with spanners on the old weinmann brakes the frame came with. It was meant to be a budget build ffs 🙈

Is this for the Hob? I have the stock pair somewhere, I think. They're pretty crap but possibly improvable with a bit of grease and upgraded pads. I'm happy to try and dig them out if you're in need.

The Dia Compe ones seem to be available on SJS. I've used the budget 806's and the nicer BRS202s and can recommend both.
If you're not in a massive rush, I'm pretty sure I have a pair somewhere (in addition to the ones mentioned above) and I can try and find them this week.
(Maybe I should give @ltc right of first refusal)
I'm after a pair of long drop brake calipers. I need about 65mm of drop. After something more at the budget end of the spectrum!
