Sadly charities paying more than regular punters is de rigeur in the events world. We make it a policy on our events to charge charities the same or less as participants but that's the opposite to almost all organisers. The sell out events (London Marathon, Ride London etc) rely on charging charities through the nose to make their margin. Loads of charities were fed up of the old Ride London as they didn't make the fundraising returns they needed.
I hear it is a central London start and finish this time which will make a change to the Olympic Park start.
Re the cost, sadly closed roads events cost an astronomical amount to put on so they'll always seem expensive compared to regular open road sportives.

Looks to be a different entry system as well, first 10,000 first come first serve rather than the previous ballot.

Same date as L'eroica Montalcino (bit niche I grant you).

Now Montalcino interests me way more than Essex.
The event is back but now going through Essex. After the initial interest that lasted about 5 minutes, I'm beginning to cool down on it and whether to enter. No information on the route, the £89 entrance fees feels steep, and snooping around, it seems it's even more pricey for charities to get a spot which doesn't sit right with me.

Anyone thinking about entering?
