FS: Specialized Tricross SSCX. Nice spec. Perfect winter bike.

Tricross SSCX. Frame stamped 54 on BB shell so think it's a med/54cm. Effective top tube measures approx 55cm horizontally.

Very much used condition so the usual scuffs and cable rub etc, but everything is in good working condition with no dinks or dents.

Perfect as a low maintenance way of continuing some off road miles through the winter or would make an excellent winter road bike or commuter. Can take a rack and guards if required.

Got to say I was surprised at how nicely it rides. I've mainly used it for local woods, bridleways etc and for hill repeats on the road. It's an amazing climber. Wouldn't be selling except for a mate has a rigid mtb he's selling that I quite fancy and I have a 1 in 1 out policy.

Sugino cranks with a 38t Surly stainless steel chainring.
Wheels are Halo Aerotrack (these have great hubs and roll really smooth) with a 17t freewheel fitted. The other side is a sorta mini HG freehub spline that is part of the hub shell, so basically you can fit regular cassette cogs and run it fixed.
Bontrager 34c folding cx tyres. Tyre clearance for plenty bigger I'd say.
Brakes are TRP magnesium EuroX. I think these are about as good as canti brakes get, just don't expect disc brake performance! :)
Superb Cane Creek SCR-5 brake levers.
ITM carbon bars.
Shimano Pro stem.
I'm keeping the seatpost and saddle. Might have a spare saddle I throw in actually, but you'll need a post, which is 27.2mm so an abundant size.
No pedals, soz.
Basically sold as seen in the pics (with the exception of the post and saddle).
£300 collected from me (London side of Maidstone).

Decided to include the black layback seatpost as seen in the pics plus I've fitted a brand new black Selle San Marco Monza saddle. So just needs pedals and you're all set.

Sold.

OK, it was sold, but now is not sold. Buyer noticed that one of the cranks is 170mm and the other is 172.5mm.

I'd never noticed and nor had the previous owner who I bought it from on here. So yesterday I collected it and refunded the buyer as he'd had back problems earlier in life so understandably didn't want to risk riding with odd sized cranks.

So it's up for grabs again. You can take as is and ride as is (and probably never notice) or I can supply with some silver cranks that have come off a mates langster if you would prefer to swap them out.

Given the agg I'm happy to accept £280 for it collected, including the spare cranks. I've also got some xt spd pedals I'd be happy to let go with it for another £20.

Had some interest from a potential buyer who has gone quiet now.

Agreed with him a deal of £260 collected or £275 collected with the XT pedals included. As he's gone quiet I don't mind offering the same deal out to the wider market.

It's a lot of bike for that money imho. If no takers I'll whack it on the bay and remove from here. Ta.

Yeah, seems like a cracking deal to be honest. Im also struggling to move on a handful of bikes at the moment though, maybe just not as many people buying at the moment 🤷🏽‍♂️

I think bikes are still selling. A SSCX is just a niche within a niche, so the pool of potential buyers is smaller I guess. Would prefer to sell at mate's rates on here, but I need the garage space so will dive into the deeper waters of the bay if need be.

I was really pleasantly surprised how good this is actually. I didn't really have high expectations for it ride quality wise when I first bought it, but it's a really fun bike to ride and excels at its primary function of fuss free woodland/bridleway bashing. But what surprised me the most was what an efficient climber it is. I mainly used the bike for road hill repeat sessions and it climbs better than any other bike I own. Even with the cx tyres. Maybe the gearing was just spot on for my local gradients?

Yeah but rack/guard mounts front and rear really do it for me over some other aluminium sscx bikes. Very good London commuter potential. One of my Mash CXSS models didn't even have bottle cage mounts.
