I had no idea this even exists. How long does it take?

It's not fast as it stops everywhere and waits for another train to connect or detach at Salisbury (time enough to jump out and get a coffee from the station cafe), so probably about 2hrs 45mins end-to-end. Really nice journey though, especially in the Salisbury-Bath section.

Are they stopping the Bristol-Salisbury service too? Or is it just the direct Bristol-Waterloo service?

I think it's just the direct one, but the cross-country services that don't go on to Waterloo are smaller and not nearly as useful for just travelling straight through.

Any source on that? If they are stopping that route then using the mainline via Reading is the only way to London.
Don't know if any of you have used this service, but I've always loved it as it's let me avoid the barren, remote wasteland that is London Paddington. If you've got a moment, could you sign this as hard as you you possibly can:
