For sale: 1992 Peugeot Prestige - Reynolds 708 52x53cm - SRAM Rival, Shimano wheels - complete bike

Here is your chance to acquire this lovely frame before its 30th birthday! I built this a couple of years ago and rode it myself for a bit before giving it to my dad. He has now commissioned a custom frame so this bike needs a new home.

708 is quite a rare, high-end Reynolds tube set with the same alloy and heat treatment as 753 but with longitudinal reinforcement in the main tubes rather than conventional butting. I’ve included a couple of pages from a Reynolds catalogue of the time below as well as the relevant page from a 1992 Peugeot brochure. The frame is lovely to ride and feels quite light for steel too. The paint job is a metallic purple / lilac fading into black which looks great but isn’t too flashy.

It’s in excellent condition for its age, with a few very light scratches and a couple of tiny superficial spots of rust, as expected for a frame this old which has been ridden rather than just admired. The groupset, wheels and most of the parts were new when the bike was built and are in really good nick. All the components work well, the rims are true and all bearings are smooth.

Picture shows current spec as above, set up for my dad. I am 5ft6in and he is slightly taller - the bike would fit someone a couple of inches either way, maybe with a different seatpost and / or stem.

I would really prefer to sell this as a complete bike, ready to ride. I have had a bit of interest, so I won’t be splitting it for now.

Collection in London NW3 or NW5 please. I could meet more central or deliver somewhere north of the river / inside the M25. Also, I do have some trips coming up so might be able to drop it off somewhere along the M4 or in South Wales, Devon or Cornwall within the the next month or so.

Also, now includes flat pedals. I will post some detail pictures of the BB, HT, dropouts and the few tiny scratches this weekend.

It’s been difficult to decide a price for this bike, the frame is quite special but it’s a small size, and I am aware the build could be a bit more bling. All the components are in excellent condition and work very well and it is great to ride, just the right amount of springy. I was thinking it could be made much smarter with not a lot of effort, with a nicer chainset and wheels it could look really good. Please feel free to make a sensible offer!
