I've always encouraged younger or inepexerienced riders to buy/use a decent spec flat bar hybrid, IMHO there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to buy a drop bar bike at that age unless they're racing. Widens the choice of available bikes/frames, easier to control both on and off road with flat bars for the lesser experienced/younger rider, more options for wider tyres and have utility value as well.

Selling a nice small steel Ribble here
My eldest (12) is thinking about getting into riding and I'm looking for a used road or gravel bike for her. She's 1m 54, so it would be an XS/48cm frame type of affair. Obviously it's too early to say if she'll stick with it, so I'm not thinking about spending a fortune. If anyone has anything suitable, please let me know. Thanks.
