Do you know where the Eldridge Grade sat in the line-up? ie vs Bear Valley, Pine Mountain etc.
Do you know what the frame is built from?
Cheers
Edit: did a google. Team Marin > Pine Mountain > Eldridge Grade
Could be interested... do you have the original middleburn chainset kicking around?

The Eldridge grade was definitely above the bear mountain, I believe they were higher than both. They were the top of the range hard trails in steel! I had a 1997 and it was lovely! I sold the frame 8-9 years ago on eBay and only got like £50… Twas one of those gut wrenching moments to sell it for so little! I recall new they were around the £1000 with ridge forks in 1997 and came with a mixed XT/LX group sets, but mine came from a LBS with shop discount so May have been more… I can’t remember!
Think my frame was triple butted tange

Tubing is tange something . Ox platinum maybe ? Lovely frames . I have had three ( still got a very knackered one ) and used to race on these back in the day , hence me building up one to keep . Middleburn chainset long gone as was rubbish . Shifting works lovely on this . Bike would be super nice with the xt760 group I have spare . Let me know if anyone interested .

OX Platinum is True Temper.
There's a few old Marin catalogues over on the retrobike forum - looks like 'Tange Marin custom cromoly double butted' tubing.

Ye you can find out a lot from all those Marin catalogues on retrobike.
There's a few bikes that sat lower in the hierarchy but still had the same frames as ones higher up, bargains to be had on Ebay and gumtree.

Good shout - just looking through a few catalogues and it looks like everything from the Pine Mountain through to the Bear Valley (non SE) has the same frame - double butted Tange cromo / double butted stays. What changed between models was the build.
Any lower than that and you start to lose double-buttedness, it seems.

Been thinking about this - would you sell F+F and seatpost separately?
-

Dibs stem if &c &c
Really nice. I hadn’t notice the straight bladed forks- are those the originals?
-
• #12
Thinking those forks are p2’s . I am guessing this came with threaded . Will keep together for now. Will sell the xtr drivetrain bits and cranks / bb if anyone wants those .

Hey, you say it's at your folks' - is it possible to come give it a little spin?
-

I will bring it up in a week or so , and drop you a note to see if you are still interested : )

Out of curiosity, would you consider selling that xt760 groupset you mentioned ? If yes, what's included in the groupset?

Quick bump for this . Had a bit of interest but still with me for now . Let me know any interest or else will put it back in storage . Would make a lovely solid bike packing bike with all the braze ons.

Bump . Had a few people say they would take it , but not followed up . Drop to £280 collected or posted for £300 if you can wait for me to find box .
Before I commit to keeping this , anyone interested .
Marin Eldridge frame - not a lot of use since it was resprayed .
20 inch frame , so big and my size at 185 but will be my other half’s bike if I keep and she is 172 I think .
Modern kit with xtr mechs and shifters .
Deore chainset as the middleburn from original build was rubbish .
Xt brakes
9 speed .
Thomson stem and post.
I would not let it go for less than £300 - not cheap, but those old marins are lovely and I am a bit attached to it .
Or a bit more and I can rebuild with a full xt760 groupset .
Let me know if anyone interested as at my folks at weekend where it lives .
