53cm road bike

I’m looking for a road bike for friend, 53cm would be perfect, but could potentially go slightly smaller or bigger.
Ideally carbon or aluminium, but wouldn’t necessarily rule out steel. 11 speed, shimano 105 or above ideally.
His budget is somewhere between £500 and £1000.

I have a 53cm Roberts Columbus SLX with 10 speed Chorus / veloce mix. Happy to sell the frame separately if need be. The build is slightly different now (Rolls saddle and cheapy seatpost), but more or less this is what it looks like:
