I have a SA thumby 'body' that I used a downtube shifter with- not the most aesthetically pleasing but useable with no issues to which rear mech you have!

It's an SL-M4000 which seem to be available new for £20ish, so how about £10 which will include a used but ok 11-34 9 speed cassette?

Looks like this with the lever attached- but I'm just offering the 'body' no shifter lever.

Sounds like you might be sorted now anyways
