Hi all,
A friend recommended I chuck this on here as you guys are apparently into interesting bikes. Here we have an almost unridden Raleigh Dyna-tech 405ti from I think (?) 1993 in electric blue. I was intending on building it up but never got round to it and it seems a waste to not ride it. It’s been serviced and everything’s running buttery smooth.
Frame
The main tubing is titanium and the lugs are Cromoly steel. Raleigh lists the tubing as 2120 from its special division department. Size wise, it measures 55 cm from the bb to seatpost. The seatpost is the original heat treated Kalloy one.
Aesthetics
The paint is about as perfect as you’ll get for its age. There aren’t any sizeable dings or scratches bar a small one through the decal, but there are a couple of spots on the lugs where the paint has mottled ever so slightly. You should be able to see this in the pics. You might also notice that the sticker on the top tube is peeling slightly but a touch of vinyl tape should sort this out. There’s also some lovely cream trim around the stem.
Group
It’s rolling with complete Shimano Exage 500EX which is basically a 105 group just rebranded slightly (one down from Ultegra). The shifters are indexed and unbelievably satisfying for a down tube situation. Seven speeds on the back, two on the front.
Wheels
The wheels are 700c Alesa 613 laced onto Shimano EX hubs. The coating over the brake section is pretty much intact - showing just how unused this bike is!
Tyres
The tyres are 700x25c Michelin Hi Sport Select which apparently have some sort of kevlar protection going on. They’re almost new.
I’ve seen a couple of steel dyna-techs go for £400+ on Ebay but I’d take £350 ONO. If you’ve got any questions just give me a shout. I’m based in SE14 and could potentially deliver within a reasonable distance.
Cheers!
