Gravel King SK tubeless sealing issues

  • Has anyone else had massive issues trying to get these to hold air? I'm trying to run a pair of 33s on my MacGyvered gravel bike, and they just won't hold.

One seems to have a number of small holes in the tread. As these tyres were originally ridden with tubes, and I did have some punctures, this is not necessarily a surprise, but they are small so I did think the sealant might have handled it.

The other, however, has no obvious source of leakage, but loses pressure pretty much as fast.

I have never had anything like this difficulty before. I do note the Gran Fondo review of these tyres suggested difficulty with sealing and poor puncture protection , which seems to be my experience.

I'm debating just binning them tbh, unless anyone has any bright ideas?

  • Yeh I had the same problem with a set in 38mm after a few months of riding tubed and getting a few punctures. On the front I glued over some of the worst holes on the inside of the tyre and the rear I just gave up on.

  • On the Tubless Tyres Same Questions Again and Again thread i believe this has been covered... I must concur one of them does lose more air than I'm used to for a tubeless. Probably needs more tape than assuming it's a hole though.

  • Stan's race may just plug the tire full of holes. As for the other it's the valve hole or bad rim installation, assuming it's seated properly.
If it's not too bad I'd just go for a small ride with a big pump.

  • I ran GK 'Mud' 35s for around 10 months, supposedly tubeless ready. I eventually gave up on them but my issues sound similar to yours -small holes and seeping around the tread, random air loss (one week is good, one week not), easily punctured and no guarantee that the holes would seal again.

I gave up on them and went to a set of Schwalbe X-One Allround and it's been a whole other world. Perform exactly as they should, zero issues.
