Are these what you mean by short?
(https://www.wiggle.co.uk/ratio-16cm-sock-camo?sku=106099946 & https://www.wiggle.co.uk/primal-electric-shock-socks?sku=5360762790)
I've always worn trainer socks, the ones you don't see, but I always get jip from 'proper' cyclists so invested in the above recently and finding them pretty good.
The b&w primal ones got a bit of mud splashed on them on the first usage which has stained the white bits so maybe avoid them for any offroading/gravel etc.

By short I’d say just over half the height of the colourful ones

I think 10cm is what I’m talking about

I'm also not a fan of calf height socks - PX/On-One used to do just above ankle height Merino jobs but it looks like they've stopped now.
From a quick google Defeet do several style of their socks in 3" cuff.
You might struggle find the funky ones in the UK, but the base colours are knocking around.

I've never bought from them, but Prendas have some funk in their socks.

I have some Inov8 merino running socks which are nice, short and warm

I have been a fan of Stance for over three years now. Solid performance socks for winter cycling, skiing and skating.

I'm on the lookout for some merino no show socks, preferably in white, to replace all the cotton ones I've brought in previous years.
Thinking something like this
https://dzrshoes.uk/collections/bike-socks/products/no-show-socks-retro-blueany other alternatives I should be looking at?

Woolie Boolie or something else? I've had mine for ages but want a second pair of warmer winter socks.
GripGrab socks any good?

For what it is worth….
I stopped using cycling socks in winter and now use bog standard thermal socks off Amazon etc. cycling socks seem to be very thin on top surface but thermal ones beefier ( warmer) but main reason is I can get full calf length warm socks almost up to my knees- under longs of course. Warm calves seem to help keep feet warm for me. Have been known to use with shorts and sandals though to be annoying to cycling illuminati -

I'm kind of the opposite. I have issues with tendons so often tend to run Zero/low-cut socks. I guess I'm not really doing massive multi-day events in winter though so I could probably get away with longer socks but finding a pair that would fit around my calves and not resemble hessian sacks could be an issue.

I never remember we have a Decathlon here. They look like a similar blend to the GripGrab ones. Probs worth a try eh?
Ahh, they only come in midget sizes.

Thanks.
The decathlon socks have been fine for me riding MTB on dry just sub zero days. I get cold feet.

Looks like they only go to 11/46 and those ones are out of stock too. :(
No bother, it's not urgent or anything.

Yeah, I rate them too. I like the Lidl/Aldi socks too, but they sell out super quick.
So many out there, any funky recommendations especially for short ones rather than Wiggins like football socks?
