That’s not a Fizik saddle. It’s similar in shape to an Arione but no version was ever made that looked like that
-
• #3
Could it not be a stripped Arione of some description @Señor_Bear?
-
• #4
@Señor_Bear the original listing for the item had it as as a custom fizik saddle so would assume it'd be different from one of the their production models. Unfortunately I don't have any more details than what was on the original ebay listing

it looks very much like an arione 00, the weight is very much in line, so that would confirm that, but the graphics are not there

If you take the cover off an Arione 00 it won’t look like that. It has a weave.
The only exposed carbon saddle Fizik have made is the K1 and that also has a weave.
The Arione classic, CX and all the newer R# saddles have a thermoplastic base, with or without a carbon injected section. None of them are full carbon.

Ive own a double 00 they dont look like that

In fact none of the Arione saddles ever had the Mobius rails. Maybe it’s one of the Kurve saddles in snake variant that has been stripped?
I dunno. But it’s not an Arione

This is mid 2000s. Perhaps why it’s not being recognised. But it’s legit.

• #11
yeah not that close you're right. the arione 00 is a crazy-ass saddle if you ask me !
-
• #12
Are you sure? The K1 did not have a unidirectional base. It has a two colour weave???
How can what the OP is selling be this??

100% not a K1. I have owned 2 of them.

Base looks identical.
Fizik we’re definitely doing custom back then. I had one on a Factory Team Schwinn I had back then.
-
• #15
I don’t think they were doing custom saddles, only custom covers.
I don’t know what this is but it’s not an Arione IMO

Okay, but let’s be fair to the seller here and not destroy their sale; it’s likely a genuine Fizik Saddle. The underneath matches other examples. It may just have a custom finish on the top - which was an option back then.
Happy to be proven wrong. But serial is on the bottom. Email Fizik?

It’s not a Kurve. I’ve had several.... they have a weird Kevlar weave base with a cut outs & Kium (or whatever it was called) rails. And they all cracked after about 6 months, so I’d be surprised if any are left!

This isn’t about destroying someone’s sale. The OP is selling something to our community and something isn’t right with it. It’s not what they’re saying it is. I’m not accusing anyone of anything just trying to get to the bottom of it.
Also Fizik we’re not doing custom saddles back then where you could order the rails off a K1 and then a unidirectional top that they never made. Custom was what colour cover do you want, black or white and pick one of these 8 colours for the central stripe

A kurve snake I discovered I had destroyed on my turbo biek this week.

Thanks all for the extra information.
@Señor_Bear this was one of the first results on Google for fizik custom
This seems to say that you could customise your saddle and choose both rails and the tops however feel free to correct me if I've misread it.
@yeahdext great minds think alike emailed serial numbers to fizik earlier will be interesting to hear there opinion.
Obviously the main reason for the post was to sell the saddle so if anyone is interested let me know.

Yes you could pick the rails and base material but the choices were limited.
Rails were Alloy, Kium or Carbon
Base was either Thermoplastic or Carbon. All the saddles came with the ICS clip system which yours doesn’t have. Your saddle appears to have the bottom of a K1 saddle and a top that has never been made.
There’s also the weight to deal with. The Arione K1 & 00 saddles which were the full carbon versions as touted by Fizik weigh 140ish grams. This one is heavier with seemingly less on it, no cover or padding of any sort?
If this is custom it’s a very special one, but it’s more likely to be fake based on how often the Fizik Arione has been counterfeited and how the counterfeiters will happily take design from different models to make a mishmash. Sorry. I hope I’m wrong though and Fizik say what it is.

So had an e-mail back from Fizik customer services today to confirm this is a genuine Fizik saddle.
@Señor_Bear thanks for your concern on behalf of the other forum members you have quite the encyclopaedic knowledge of Fizik saddles however in this case the saddle is not counterfeit. I've asked Fizik to send over details on the custom components in case you are interested.
Will shortly delete this thread and relist the item as a genuine saddle as @yeahdext mentioned earlier in the thread the constant claims this is a counterfeit item @Señor_Bear does put off any potential buyers and kind of kill the sale.

Nice! Custom = rare = price increase ;)
GLWS!

Good result although I don't think I was making constant claims it was counterfeit.

I don't think I was making constant claims it was counterfeit.
I know you had good intentions but you must be able to see how each of your posts, and there was a lot of them, could be construed as at least implying it was fake.
Anyway, cool to hear from fizik that it's genuine. Would be interesting to hear more about it.
Also +1 for price increase! :)
For sale is a Fizik Carbon Saddle
Bought off ebay ages ago with the dream of making an ultra-light hill climb bike.
Unfortunately, I've come to realise funds won't ever allow this and will be far easier and cost-effective to just lose a bit of weight.
According to the original listing, this was a custom saddle however this isn't confirmed but the profile looks similar to an arione.
Weights a super light 161g carbon rails so will need an oval railed seatpost.
Ideally looking for £80 for it either posted for an extra £5 or collect from Paddington.
