• Hi!
I'm after a wheelset or rear wheel or spare 32 spokes rim/s for a peugeot triathlon I'm trying to restore.
Original would be lovely, but even a vintage wheelset or rims will do. 700c

    Thanks!

  • Shimano/Campaq? Have set or rear only, 80-90s

  • Hi!
Ideally I would like to find at least one original rim, since the front one I have is still in mint condition, while the rear has a crack on the side caused by impact. But I know it will be difficult to find one.

Can you please pm me with the pictures of your wheels and prices

    Thanks!

  • The specific rim I'm looking after is an Ambrosio Super Elite 32H 622-13

  • How much speed does your curret wheel have?

Is your Peugeot Triathlon the early model with a freewheel or a later model with a cassette?

  • Ambrosio Super Elite

£90 on eBay for a wheelset

    £35 for a rear wheel

  • @Vince thank you so much for the eBay links

It's the 501 Reynolds with 6 speed freewheel

  • As Vince mentioned and sent links to eBay options - that rear wheel looks bang on what you have.

Now a Campaq wheelset I have is very nice and @£80 not dear too, plus we can talk re 7sp Suntour freewheel too.
Your shifters, are these friction ones, i.e. no clicks, what brand? What rear mech do you have, would it shift 7sp?

  • I am keeping as much as possible of the original setting since I had the crazy idea to fix this thing, put a rack on with 2 bags and start a 1800 km trip, hoping to finish it

Shifters and derailleurs are still the original Sachs huret with a 6sp freewheel but I have also an idea of putting an even older suntour set I have in mint condition

The suntour will accommodate easily 7 sp (original setup was 5sp) as I tried 8 already.

  • OK. Sorry rest of wheels are to modern for you. The original Campaq Open 4CD set is available though.

  • PM me the photos of the campaq Athena. If it has the Ambrosio rim that I need, I might be able to swap the Hubs

  • Hi guys, quick update on this wheel affair.

@Foreigner65 has found an ambrosio clincher super elite durex exactly as the ones I have, but unfortunately is a 36h and mine are 32h

But, thanks to @Vince's link, I grabbed both front and rear with white walled tyres and tubes for a total of 50+10 postage. They are 32h, so I can swap one of those rims and still use my sachs mailard hubs. I've asked photos of the rim wall before buying, and they look more than ok.

  • All good then.
