Hi , the texture is very powdery and dry very quickly , so you don't want to over spray . The tricky part is that the flakes in the air can eventually fall on the fresh paint underneath so you better start from up to bottom ;)
Also if you struggle with roughness a light wet sanding is maybe to consider . -

Are you planning to add the transparent top coat / lacquer? I did this on my bare metal MTB frame and it worked very well, would protect the paint nicely I think
Pompino L frame + So-EZ Squid fork = loads of fun to come !
Now it's time for a little custom paint using spray.bike cans ..
