  • ~ 8am coming onto Waterloo Bridge on the IMAX side. No one else involved. Can't imagine she was traveling that fast, but clearly she came down pretty hard and hit her head. Conscious, but she really wasn't in a good way (bleeding from ear).

Praise to the fellow cyclists and passers-by that were so quick to help out, and calmly and efficiently aided in the situation. Stayed until an ambulance arrived.

If you ever need a reminder of the importance of a helmet then this was it. Really shaken tbh... Really hope she's okay :(

  • Did you see her fall or did you come across it after it happened?

  • Didn't see her fall, no. Must've arrived about 5 seconds after it happened.

  • However, thanks for posting; falls like this too often go completely unrecorded, and there is always a chance that incidents like it may show up a problem. Also, the visible picture is usually completely skewed in favour of crashes that are formally registered, which usually means personal injury collisions involving a driver.

The reason why I asked was because it's best to refrain from commenting on what happened unless one was a witness, and in that case it's also generally best to reserve one's witness testimony for any formal proceedings following a crash, e.g. giving it to the police. In particular, commenting on how the victim chose to cycle and implying blame is something best avoided. 'Rider down' threads are often found by the victim and/or family and friends, as this forum has a high search rating. The rules for the sub-forum are here in this sticky:

    I hope she's recovering well.

  • Understood. Thanks for taking the time to explain this.
