  • Stupid question - English or Italian thread??

  • Yep,daft question, you supply your own cups of choice.

  • Is the axle not shouldered depending on whether you have 68 (BSC/French) or 70 (Italian) cups? Otherwise what are the bearings stopping against, and how do the different cups account for that?

  • Axle should be stamped 68 or 70 apparently.

  • Or not, just looked at an OMAS big sliding I have hanging around here and the axle isn’t stamped. I dunno.

  • This one had English cups.

  • If anyone wants this but needs cups, I've got an FT-Bologna BB with English cups, which was very possibly made by Omas (since there were some Omas Big-Sliding instructions in the box of stuff it came in). The spindle (steel) and bearings aren't half as nice as this, but the cups should work just fine for this. Check the listing here and give me a shout.

  • Is this from the Roberts?

  • I had one of these on a lightweight Windcheetah recumbent. I pulled away from the start line on a time trial and the axle twisted along its length. It didn’t break but the cranks ended up about 10 degrees out of line. I put a steel one in after that.
