• Its my birthday weekend.

My last bike in London is being shipped out Tuesday so I wanted to do something special on the last day I will be riding (for a while).

Bit late notice but for my 100th lockdown/covid ride I am going to visit all the houses I have lived in for the past 22 years.

Starting at St. Paul's from 11:00 Sunday.

Haven't worked out the route yet, think it is going to be around 60-80KM.

    All welcome, nobody left behind.

  • I've lived north, south, east and west over the years.

Might not want to do this ride chronologically or it would criss-cross London a few too many times..

  • Cool idea. I won't be implementing anything similar though as in 15 years I've only been in 3 houses and you could walk between all three. :S

  • Ha ha.
I can remember 11 right now so far.

  • Actually, it is a better flow starting at St. Paul's.

  • Stoked about this now.

Ride will carve a crescent around south London then through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, swing back east, then straight line it north.

Best bit will be riding down the Dollis Brook and dropping in on west.

There are long traffic-free and off road sections, trying to keep it calm. There will be a couple of main roads south(23C should be ok, just need to take it easy over a 300 meter bumpy bit in north London).

Couple of big hills north but the downsides of them will be pretty fun.

  • Ride is cancelled.

  • What happened?

  • Only just saw this pop up on the threads, happy birthday @|³|MA3K

  • );
    Postponed?

  • After the alleycat I continued drinking, then discovered I hadn't slept for 30 hours.

Didn't want the responsibility of leading people on a mega-mission around town in that condition.

At 11:30 today I am going to start the ride from St. Paul's. If anyone else finds themselves at a last-minute loose-end they are welcome to join.

Weather is good, am stoked with the route, it'll be on Strava later.

This will be the last day I have my own bike in London. Ain't gonna be no rematch.

  • Have a great ride @|³|MA3K

  • Very responsible! Much nicer day for it today, enjoy it.

  • If anyone is curious the route is up on Strava.

Two of us at the start, joined by a third halfway round.

Except for excitedly telling a story and missing the turn into South Lambeth Road for the second stop it worked out really well.

Oh yeah, should have turned left in New Cross but I was doing this from memory and I hadn't been there in twenty years..

Couldn't have hoped for a better ride though.

  • Pleased you had a great ride.
Melancholy that you won't be riding on these streets again, for a while at least.

    I think they'll miss you.

  • Can no one lend you a bike?

    Want to borrow my steamroller?

  • I just want to get on with my life. Maybe with only a suitcase left and the ability to get to Heathrow within a few hours I can go on some type of standby list.

Suitcase has wheels, if I get really sad I can just ride it down a hill or something.

  • I'm near Midland Road if you need to borrow a biek. I have a few to choose from. You can use one of your old locks too if you want!

Hoping for the best for your flight, dude. Proper nightmare

  • Thank you, the offer is really kind.
