**Insert title here** project

Gonna re use this thread rather than starting a new one.

Since buying a Cliff Shrubb road bike late last year I've been enjoying the freewheel life, cruising, wearing flat shoes and casually riding. Been toying with the idea to get another roadie but with flappy panel gears. Been trying to get a Kestrel SCi200 but missed out on one going for £100 in the states so thats stalled. Ideal world I'd get a Columbus Max frame but haven't been able to find anything my size and within budget. So I'm still on the search for a suitable frame.

Anyways. I've only really ridden 7/8 speed in Japanese flavours so started looking at nice groupsets on the Italian side of things. Quite keen on the Campag Record/Chorus Carbon Titanium 9/10 speed parts from the early 2000's, where they mix the alu and carbon. Anyone got any thoughts on this? pros and cons?

Pulled the trigger on some sweet cranks from a fellow forum member to get the ball rolling.
These are the 10 speed but I believe could be used with 9 speed derailleurs. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

For wheels I was after something quiet, can't stand the racket of Campag hubs, rode a set of Shamals for a week and got a headache by the end of it. So eyes on the prize and managed to secure some nice 32h Royce Venus hubs with the very slick Ti lockring.

Undecided on what brifters to go for, the 9 or 10, chorus or record - all I'm specifically after is full carbon tbh. Not that fussed atm to have a fully matching groupset either, just want good aesthetics and for it to be functional.

My theory: the title refers to musician Bill Stevenson, member of American punk rock band Descendents, who had open heart surgery in 2016. One of Descendents' EPs is called 'Merican.
