Japan’s prime minister, Shinzo Abe, has given the starkest warning yet that the rearranged Tokyo Olympics next year might have to be cancelled completely, saying it would be difficult to stage them if the coronavirus pandemic is not contained.

I'll share my post from the pro cycling thread
Been looking at the Olympic schedule and tried to figure out times
The mens road race is on 24th due to finish around 10:15 GMT. The Mountain bike event is on 26th starts at 7:00 GMT and the TT is on 28th and is due to finish between 9-10am.
The Women's road race is on 25th due to finish around 9am GMT. The Mountain bike event is on 27th starts at 7:00 GMT and the TT is on 28th same as the mens, not sure which one runs first.

Rog or Pog? Will WVA add another tally to his name? Do Brits have any chance?

Denmark are led by Richie Porte and Jakob Fuglsang
Richie is too short to be Danish isn’t he?

Inrng as always has done a great preview.

It looks like it’s going to be stinking hot and humid.
Would love Mollema to win.

I don't think there are any obvious comparisons to the course. Maybe San Sebastian or Lombardia? I guess Pogacar starts as strong favourite. It looks like it would have been perfect for Nibali four or five years ago. I think Adam Yates is the only GB rider who stands a chance.
For anyone who hasn't seen this:

Are there any non-World Tour racers racing or is this just Tdf Lite?

Loads I think. Start lists here:

Loads of small countries like Panama, Hong Kong etc have got a single rider but you would expect they’ll be clinging on.

Enjoyed the pictograms bit of the opening ceremony, very entertaining

Found the opening ceremony quite underwhelming as a whole (understandably so, of course) but that bit was bloody brilliant.

• #17
Simon Geschke out of the race.

Mollema to attack halfway up the Mikuni and never to be seen again.

His bike is nice/garish depending on your point of view.
I stuck e/w bets on Mollema (33/1), Mader (50/1) and Fuglsang (80/1).

Mollema at 33/1 seems very good value.
-
• #21
Where did you get 33/1?
-
• #22
Fuglsang at 80-1 isn't bad either. He claims vaccine side effects disrupted his tour.

Thanks. Found it on sky at 40/1 so went with them.
Betting sites make it really fucking difficult to find odds on cycling.

my gcn doesn't seem to be working
Didn't seem to be a thread on this yet (understandably).
