Will check the parts box but pretty sure I have a couple.
Most likely lower end french stuff but you might be able to pull apart and use decent DT levers.

Thanks for posting. Three perfect examples of what I was on about though none has a cutout for the ‘blister’ that’s on the frame (I think it’s there to stop the band rotating?).
Would take a punt on one though if I could remove the lever and replace with a cable stop -this is for a 5-speed clunker and the idea is to run a thumbie.
Otherwise, maybe I just go with the whole downtube thing. Gah!

If I remember well... the official name is a "downtube shifter clamp" - have a look on Google images for examples!
The diamond shape raised area you are referring to is usually below the DT.
The shifter clamp effectively clamps over it (where the bolt is at the back) so that prevents it from sliding down or turning around the DT.If that raised bit is at the front (which I have seen before), then here are some photos for you showing it still works!

Arrgh. Didn’t see this update : /
Thanks for the info. Yes, that looks like it’s the ‘thing’.Curious coincidence is that I parked my bike in a building bike store, recently, where there’s an old Falcon with exactly what’s needed (it’s the stop that allows stem mounted shifters).
So, maybe that’s what I should be aiming for.
Or, I spring for the functional-but-ugly Jtek thing. Life too short &cCheers : )
One of those things you’ve definitely thrown into the parts trash mound and it’s slowly rotted down > gone.
It’s a band on gear lever fixing for an old steel frame. Fits over a shallow triangular braze-on on the downtube. Completing the effect would be some honest but low-end gear levers.
I need one to blank for a downtube cable stop. Otherwise I’m buying a chunky Jtek jobbie (boooo!). Anyone?
Thanks : )
