56cm Terry Dolan built Cougar - full Campag (Chorus & Record), lots of chrome - SOLD

Absolutely fabulous 56cm Cougar, built by Terry Dolan - I would guess around 1989 but haven't been able to verify this.

Considering its age, it is in superb condition - clearly hardly ridden by its original owner, has just a few minor chips and light fading to the paint on the top tube and the back of one of the seat stays, some very minor light rust on some of the bolt heads on the brakes and a small amount of heel rub to the cranks. Apart from that' it's almost as good as when it was built! All chrome is immaculate and the rest of the paint is really fresh.

56cm Terry Dolan built Cougar frame built in Reynolds 653 tubing finished in a met blue with flo yellow panels on the top and down tubes, with front forks and rear stays chromed
Campagnolo Chorus groupset including the seatpost & headset
Record part-titanium 9 speed cassette
Record downtube friction levers (non EXA-drive, so not indexed)
Record hubs built into Mavic MA40 rims - buttery smooth hubs and the rims have virtually no wear or scoring and run perfectly true - fantastic condition (likewise the brake blocks have virtually no wear)
Just fitted Vittoria Open Pave tyres
Brand new Deda Speciale handlebars and Cinelli 1A stem (the stem is off another bike and has a couple of small scuffs)
Brand new NOS Benotto bar tape (I have a few other rolls as spares which I can include)
Selle Italia Turbo Special saddle - when I first got the bike, the saddle was really dried out so I've treated it with a few doses of Proofide which has breathed new life into it!

There is barely any wear to the components - drivetrain, brake blocks, hubs, rims all in superb condition

I'm happy to box it up carefully and ship it - I already have a suitable bike box so should be able to do that quite quickly. If collected, it would need to be paid for in advance and social distancing observed on collection.

I recently broke my back and this has been a project to keep me occupied during my recovery - sadly I won't be able to ride this beauty as I just won't be able to get into a road bike riding position again - hence the sale - plus the next project has already arrived! 😁

Gorgeous that. I love everything about this. Fair price too, when you think about the garbage you'd get new for this price. (I'm too short, too many bikes)

I know - I'm in that ridiculous situation of ending up with too many lovely bikes and projects underway or completed and just can't justify keeping it (I put a post in Current projects which explains how I ended up in this position!) - I was lucky enough to pick it up for a bargain price and have put a fair bit of time and money into it too but at this price will just about get my money back out of it - so the next owner can get a good deal too!
