Nice. Rustines make MAFAC hoods, not cheap mind. As for any vintage brakes I'd also fit some new pads (KoolStop make them).

That's probably a rational suggestion given my total number of offspring under the age of 4. To be honest I sometimes wish that I could lease people the bike related stuff I don't have time to use. If someone starts a webbased BHA circle; I think I could benefit from a couple of meetings.

Thanks for the link! I'm disturbingly pleased that they are Fait en France. (it's usually not a preference for things that can't be eaten or drunk)
Edit: Obviously I'm lying (to myself), if the bike in question had been made pin Trondheim or Stuttgart I most likely hadn't bought it. I'm probably a closet- francophilie

Rustines were the leader in repair patches, to the point the brand was synonymous with the product (like Hoover in the UK). They've been resurrected a few years back, and AFAIK they're still based in the original factory.

OK, So I started looking for tubulars for touring and apart from Tufo Elite Ride and Dugast Roubaix, is there anything out there thats a given? I guess rebuilding the wheels with new rims is an option (and perhaps the only pesudo-future proof one)?
So I found this on a local site and couldn't really subdue my inner Jan.
It's mostly French parts and rides really well. The only thing I can complain about is the force required to operate the brakes.
The plan is as follows:
*Source new tubulars for when the schwalbe Milanos give up
*Fix braking
*Give it a clean with turtle Wax
*Source silver Simplex levers
*If possible remove rust from front rack and forks (aluminium foil?)
*Source new Mafac hoods
*If possible build up rear mudguard
*Might remove rear rack
