Cheapest way to post bikes from Argentina to UK

Partner and I are finally being repatriated to the UK. At no small cost to ourselves. The charter flight has no excess baggage so we have no way of bringing our bikes on the plane. Can anyone suggest a cheap and safe way of getting our bikes back to the UK? Last time I had a bike shipped to the UK it arrived with hundreds of pounds worth of damage and the shipping company never paid out.
