Fs - Circe Helios Aurora Tandem

Anybody want to buy this Circe Helios Aurora MINUS the wheelset and gear gubbins for £1000?

It has normal hangers for front/rear mechs and canti brake mounts (but building another disc wheelset would be best as the brakes are great). Pedals are DMR V12, only diff in picture is two orginal saddles were swapped out for Selle Italia X2s.

Standard models start from £1800. You can buy conversion kits for a young stoker and turning it into a rear-loading cargo bike.

The 20 inch wheels size makes the bike way more fun and easier to maneuver. Supports a big range of rider sizes and has a low standover height.

Without too much hassle I have piloted my wife, wife with a baby pouch, an 11-14 year old stoker, My wife piloted her elderly mother too. I think that is amazing for one tandem.

Bought new (three years old) and has always lived indoors.

Originally planned to take overseas but wife has gone off idea.

I must say, I think a grand without the wheels and gears is going to be a stretch (based on watching used prices for about 18 months prior to picking mine up) but good luck with it.

Is this the one that can be used with monkey bars to portage the offspring?

Interesting FB page, some amazing Circe setups on there.

I think the price is fair for London atm, most of the sales I have seen are for differently specced pickups right out in the country.

I would love to keep this bike but unfortunately it would just gather dust (but plan to build something special around the wheelset if it gets sold).

I've just checked and the costs to get it rolling again and changing it into the cargo bike guise doesn't make it feasible. GLWS.

Out of curiosity, how much would you be looking at for wheels and gears?

I know you could build up a decent 20 inch disc wheelset on a pretty tight budget. Small rims cost next to nothing and there is a huge range of mtb/touring stuff to choose from for the hubs(currently XT/Rohloff).

Suspect the main cost freakout for @Lanterne_Rouge would have been the cargo rack conversion kits, they are not cheap. Links here , with the jumbo stand too about £350 in total!

The Rohloff 14 speed hub was £1400(at the time) by itself hence wanting to keep it for another bike I plan to build if I can get this sold.

Shimano internal gear hubs can be found at reasonable prices.
