Kevin Winter Cyclocross - complete bike
Size:
51cms ST c-t-t
51 cms TT effective/horzontal
This is handmade and rides beautifully. My daughter has been using it on the road as a flat-bar CX bike, but it could have drops put back on it very easily of course.
£250 for the complete bike.
Campagnolo 1” Aheadset
Stronglight chainset 2x
Mavic MA3 rims on Sora hubs
Sora derailleurs (at least I think the rear is Sora but can't tell as logo has been removed)
Frogglegs Canti's both ends
Scott saddle (a bit torn up tbh)
Specialized Sirrus bars & stem
ProMax brake levers
Deda Metalstick seatpost
Conti GP 4 Season & Specialized All Condition tyres
Generic pedals
Specialized Body Geometry grips
There are a couple of very minor dings in the frame, not really very noticeable, but worth mentioning. I can send close-ups to anyone who’s interested.
The bike rides brilliantly and has been serviced very well. As my daughter was riding it, I stripped the entire bike down to every last nut & bolt, cleaned, lubed and prepped absolutely everything before reassembly.
I linseed-oiled the inside of the frame, not that there was any evidence of rust, but just because this is such a nice frameset it deserves looking after.
I stripped, cleaned and lubed the hubs and bearings. They work perfectly but are not silky smooth. However, they roll well, and are robust. There's plenty of life in them.
The brakes were stripped down and rebuilt from scratch. They work very, very well - proving that Canti's are very effective/powerful when set up properly.
The front shifter is 3 x 8 compatible if you wanted to change the chainset to a 3 by.
Although it's a concoction of different parts (just like CX bikes used to be), it all works flawlessly and is a joy to ride.
The frames is nice and light. I haven't weighed it, but Kevin Winter made super-nice frames.
And yes, I should wipe that grease off the headset. :-)
