• I wanted to share a recently acquired Italian steel frame. A GIOS Compact Pro with full Campagnolo Record 10 speed groupset.

  • It started out with a 9 speed Campy Record groupset and black Conti tyres. I wanted to use some tan wall tyres and opted for some Challenge Strada foldable "open tubular" tyres.

I also bought some titanium button head screws for the bottle cage mounts and for the downtube cable tension adjusters, which are titanium nitride coated gold colour to match various other gold accents, like the original countersunk screws for the rear dropouts and the GIOS chrome fork colour fill.

  • For future mods, I am looking at installing a black ITM quill stem and matching handlebars, finishing with white tape. I want to go for a classic 80s/90s Tour de France look. Pretty much identical to Fignon's setup here....

The ultimate piece to finish the bike off would be some Mavic Open Pro black tubular rims. Proper shallow rims and classic 80s/90s Pro look. Take a look at Roger De Vlaeminck's ride in this brochure shot...
