  • Ever since my Cinelli got stolen I’ve been on the lookout for a fast road frame for not too much £££, so when this popped up recently I had to grab it - Madone 6.9 SSL in H1 geometry. The plan is to build up with 10 speed SRAM Red and find some cheapish used lightweight alu wheels, hopefully get down to <7kg without breaking the bank..

  • Lots of questions;
What does frame and fork of frame set weigh?
    Is there a budget?
How much did you get the frame for, if you don’t mind sharing.

  • Really good frames, I’ve still got one from the year before I believe.

Ride exceptionally well and you can easily get it very light. Mine is a 58 and only a fraction over 7kg and I was running Ultegra 6800 and Ksyriums when it was built up.

  • Damn, thought this was a sale thread for a minute there :/

  • I had one of these too .. just one gen after this with direct mount brakes, amazing bikes, can easily be built up light, mine was 7.7kg with Ultegra Di2 6770.

  • I don't have any accurate scales to hand but going off what I've seen online:
    frame: 840g
    fork: 350g
    total: 1190g

    Seatmast cap is another 150g

Frame was £400, hoping to keep the total cost below £800. I've got some bits lying around - saddles, stems, bars that I can use for now

  • that's nice!

  • I approve of this thread

  • 10sp Sram red and low-profile tubs, you'll be smashing hill climbs in no time.

  • Wow thats a light frame and fork .thats why i am finding it hard to get my bike below 7kg on a budget. Currently on 8.6 kg

  • First bits arrived today

  • Nice. These are proper future classics. Looking forward to progress

  • Things are taking shape now. Picked up some old low-profile Roval wheels for pretty cheap, they're about ~1500g! Saddle and bars I already had lying about. Just thrown some old tyres for now on but got some used Vittoria Corsas on the way too..

  • Good as I thought it’d be

  • Looks fast already.

  • Nice looking bike!
Really enjoy how that groupset match that bike so nice

  • finally found a GXP chainset (it's a red 22 but seems to work fine with 10 speed everything else) and finished it off. Immediate thoughts: it's sooo fast and agile and accelerates like a rocket but is actually really comfortable too. Wanna get some Bontrager bars at some point to match the stem (it has some cheap FSA ones on there at the moment) but otherwise very happy!

  • Really nice.

  • Small update: got hold of some Bontrager bars, white saddle + bar tape, I think it looks way better like this. This thing flies!

  • Looking really nice having been following your project. liked your trek so much I sold my Focus and bought a trek as well.

  • Longer and negative rise stem would really make this look the nuts IMO. Cool bike
