Wet and dry sandpaper will do the job. You can buy packs of different grades from Halfords
https://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repair/fillers-preparation/halfords-wet-dry-sanding-paper-15-assorted-sheetsI think it's best to start with around 500,then onto 7-800 and finish with 1000 and then autosol.

You can buy single sheets at Leyland SDM for fairly cheap. One of each grade.

I wouldn’t recommend Halfords own brand abrasives.
You can buy decent Klingspor stuff on eBay for not much more and it’ll be a lot nicer to use.

good to know, thanks
I hope this is the right forum to post.......I have a lightly scored (above the insertion mark) Campagnolo seat post that I want to polish and was wondering what grade emery paper to start, it comes up shiny with Solvol Autosol but it doesn't eliminate the score marks, thanks, any pointers gratefully received
