How much did it sell in the auction in the end.
I was watching that liquidation sale myself -

Haha funny you should ask.. thought i’d got a decent price at just under 4K, then got hit with an extra 15% charge, on top of an extra 20% VAT charge. This coupled with a day off work and a train ride to Scunthorpe turned out to be quite a pricey ordeal!

• #4
Yep I've seen that extra costs pretty bad
-
• #5
Just confirming - are you asking £4.9k for this or is that what “it’s worth”?!
-
• #6
‘Dick’ if you had done your research you would realise that the bikes worth is above the £4900 which I’m asking for. You personally may not feel it’s ‘worth’ that, but judging by the value of the parts it warrants that price.. if you don’t like don’t buy..

I am going to make a poster of this and gift it to "Dick" for his living room. The cunt.

Genuine question: what was the most expensive bike sold on LFGSS?
it's an interesting question, I can't remember what I've paid but probably up to around £800 or so for frames.
Much more than that and unless it's something very unusual you can normally find it new from a shop at close too the price that someone wants for it second hand.
I think this Parlee might sell at around 3k - that's what I'd pay for it.

I do have proof of purchase (dated last Friday), and completely understand that it’s not gonna appeal to most, hopefully it finds someone looking for this Calibre of carbon race bike, also more than happy to split

I think you'd sell the groupset and the wheels pretty easily on their own, depending of course on price, but it'd be something of a faff.

I think you have mistaken the bicycle for the housing market
And I am saying as a person who has been to Scunthorpe (once)

I sometimes honestly, sincerely, and deeply wish that I didn’t do research; that I didn’t spend a large proportion of my day looking at cycle gear and everything remotely related to it; that I had no interest what so ever in the never ending gratification of buying, building, selling buying building selling etc etc, because if I didn’t my life would, on paper, be so much better:
- 1) I’d be very wealthy (on the proviso hard drugs and strippers didn’t fill the void Cycling never found, which seems to be what people I know who don’t cycle do, and also come to think of it some of those who do cycle)
- 2) I’d likely know the intricacies of some other subject matter, like political economy, geo-physics, or molecular biochemistry instead of every variation of Shimano Dura Ace Groupset that’s existed since the beginning of time, and how it performs comparatively.
- 3) My other half would have very little to moan at me about (on the proviso I didn’t find a penchant for hard drugs and strippers instead)
- 4) I’d be clinically obese
- 5) I’d feel slightly more comfortable wearing short shorts and T-shirt’s in summer without such awkward tan lines.
- 6) I wouldn’t be so constantly conflicted by people on this forum who have posted less than twice trying to sell things at ridiculous prices.
- 1) I’d be very wealthy (on the proviso hard drugs and strippers didn’t fill the void Cycling never found, which seems to be what people I know who don’t cycle do, and also come to think of it some of those who do cycle)

I'd love to see evidence that anyone has successfully sold a bike or part thereof on here for more than a grand.

• #22
I have receipts
-
• #23
Yeah, but, judging by the value of the parts did it warrant that price?
-
• #24
I have. Any takers on over £2k?
