Have you checked the centre nut on the back , just a maybe

There's probably a grub screw holding the bolt in place.

There isn't.
Found the same brakes on another bike and they're loose too. Maybe its normal.

Yeah, I can double check my bike in a minute if needed, but I believe this is normal. I've also had the same thought like you that it can't be normal in the past!

Thanks but I think you're right. I went to a shop and all the newer R7000 brakes are loose too. Weird

Yeah some of the newer 105 brakes have more play than others. Incredibly annoying because it can cause stuttering (in my case it's the front brake that has the problem). I've disassembled and reassembled the brake but to no avail.
I threw on some old Campy brakes in the end.

Shimano shifters + Campag calipers = no quick release, which is a faff when you puncture.
Just built a new road bike with Shimano 105 BR-R5800 brake calipers. After the first ride I've noticed that the front arm has become loose and has play (about 1mm) if you rock it back and forth. I've circled the loose pivot in the photo below. I tried tightening the bolt as you would on the older style brakes but it seemed to be fully tightened up and adjusted correctly. Is it normal for this model to have a bit of play?
