Which Specialized tape have you got now? I use the Specialized S-Wrap HD Bar Tape. It is expensive, but is very good. Not too padded and very grippy (no problems with grip when wet). I ride without gloves and had tried the Fizik Performance Bar Tape before that and found it horribly slippery when sweaty.

Using the Specialized Phat bar tape https://www.google.com/amp/s/road.cc/content/review/3828-specialized-bar-phat-bar-tape%3famp
Budget around £20

Fizik bar tape in the grippy flavour isn't all that stretchy, possibly the hardest to get a good finish that I've used.

I've had this on my commuter for a year because it was cheap but its actually quite good. Grippy, not slippy and not too thick

Truth, I always go for the Fizik Classic Touch myself

That life line dimpled stuff is pretty grippy but has worn out after a summer . At 4 quid a roll i will just put the new stuff over the top .

Cinelli volee is my favourite tape, never been a fan of the fizik stuff.

Thanks dude. I've got a feeling I'll hold onto this one for a while =)

I've gone with Fizik performance tape for the last few years. Easy to wrap, grippy and lasts, not much padding but that's how I like it.

Looked into the Volee tape and I think that will go well with the Cinelli Vai bars I've got.
Thanks all, for your input.
I want complete my Pre Cursa build with the right bar tape, but need some advice.
Ideally I want Fizik to match the Antares, but I've never used Fizik tape. It must be grippy, resist sweat (for roller sessions), be somewhat padded and black.
Currently usung specialized tape, that I just don't get on with, it's too padded and slippy when sweaty.
This is my first attempt at a complete build and I'd like to get the finishing touch (pun definitely intended) right.
Pic for your pleasure 😁
