  • Mrs Sparky says a five year old child on a scooter has been killed in a crash on Launcelot Road in Downham. Terribly sad, and totally avoidable.

  • Local paper says "life threatening" at the moment, so fingers crossed it's not as bad as she was told as she passed.

  • Poor little lad. Best wishes to him. This seems to have happened on the 13th February (article from the 14th says 'yesterday').

  • It happened on the day I posted - I imagine the story got updated the next day but publication date didn’t change. Mrs Sparky saw it, and then the police were still blocking the road when I tried to get home hours later - which is never a positive sign.

  • OK, thanks, on the 14th, then.

(It would be good if you could add the date to the thread title.)

  • That’s absolutely awful. A road with two schools on it, isn’t it? That road should be a school street and closed to through traffic. Too late for this lad and his poor family though, now, I know. Feel torn up for them. But could save lives in the future.

  • I hope this guy is getting better. Photos and streetview show cars parked on every pavement space, that can't help drivers see children crossing.
    Same crash as https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/273064/#14620913

  • Local Facebook group is full of people complaining about mothers not keeping their kids in check when walking around there. I’m not getting involved but it seems to miss the point, to me... Kids do and should run about near schools.
