I would normally but I'm falling further and further into a retro mtb --> frankenbike rabbit hole right now and I can't see the way out..

Be quick
Hopefully the rims aren't too worn out for you...

ah, just missed those. Although I think I had seen them before. They are the CD anodized version.. you can see where the brake pads have worn through the ano finish.

Might these be any use to you? Rigid a Grizzly carbide £50 from SJS https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/rims-tape/rigida-grizzly-26-559-mtb-css-rim-black-32-hole/
Or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hope-Ti-Glide-Retro-Silver-XC-Mavic-CD-CERAMIC-26-Bike-Wheelset-Wheels-Titanium/323572905983?hash=item4b5672b7ff:g:hPUAAOSwj81bqmBb
Spendy as but reflecting the fact 559 ceramic rims are rarer than 700C these days
Here's another carbide rim if it might work for you and built on to a nice Halo hub https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rigida-X-Cel-Pro-Carbide-like-Mavic-Ceramic-Rim-26-front-wheel-Halo-Hub-720g/202532767769?hash=item2f27e4c819:g:sq4AAOSwR5BbC9Z3Have you put a wanted ad on the MTB section of retrobikes?

Thanks Mr_Bump, must admit I'd never heard of the Rigida Grizzly CSS before, do you have any experience with them?

No, not used them and they are claimed to be a non expedition rim as stated but actual build/skill of builder will dictate how much of a safe load, I've ridden open pros with 32 spokes with over 180kg on board (excl bike weight)
Carbide rims are different to ceramic and my experience of a set of Matrix 700C was positive, I've no reason to think the Rigida ones would be much if any difference performance wise. Here's some chat about carbide rims https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5394.0 similar to one of the posters I've used std ceramic pads (WTB and kool stop) so you're not limited to the Swiss stop blue as SJS recommend but I know some people like to stick exactly to the letter/manufacturers spec.
I've always liked Rigida's anyway and never had a bad rim from them.

Haven’t used CSS rims myself but my colleague has and I’ve worked on his bike.
He uses the recommended pads but they’d been round the world (literally, he did a commonwealth tour thing) and they looked brand new.
In comparison I’ve had CD and ceramic Mavics and it’s definitely a case of when, not if, the coating will come off. Ceramic might be a couple years down the line, CD might be a couple weeks depending what conditions you ride in.
I realise that this is quite niche! ... Anyone have a pair that they could sell?
