I find this conversation quite interesting having never been a 'fixie kid'.
Why are these frames so expensive?
Are they anywhere near as stiff as a DF4 or similar?
Why are they made using what looks like basic round tube sections instead of modified for stress and aero factors?

Why are these frames so expensive?

Many factor involved, small production number = smaller profit margin, buying that specific mould, the carbon lay-up, etc.

Even BLB Aeon cost more than the Seta, for similar reason as above;

Dolan managed to keep production cost of their bicycle low, because they buy them in batches, they build them as complete to increase profit margin on top of selling them frame-only.

So yes, it is a straggering amount of money, but not without reason.

Yes, I agree with your points - maybe just seems overkill for urban use. Still if it gives the owner pleasure that's no bad thing.

The similarities with the Dolan prototype! What's going on there? It looks identical except for the integrated seat post. The ugly seat and chain stays are identical no?
