How long is long ? Loads of options if you head NW after crossing the Severn on the old bridge. Beacons, Eppynt, Black Mountains, Elan Valley, Gospel Pass...

Or south west along the Strawberry Line and beyond - Yatton, Cheddar, explore the Mendips, and then Somerset Levels into Quantocks if you're keen for more? A few campsites around the Mendips

I've been meaning to do something similar for ages, but can never work out the children/work logistics to free up the time! I was thinking of Exmoor - plenty of campsites around the east of park area. Tintern Abbey is worth a visit if you're going to head out in that direction, but not sure what the riding is like that way.

That looks pretty good. The route to Abergavenny is one I've used quite often when riding to Mid-Wales.
Not sure what's going on with the route map on their site though - it does something odd after Monmouth. The A466 between Monmouth and Chepstow is busy, but not too bad to ride on.

Yup - it went on to a public farm track for about 5km, through fields, over a stream. Was lovely although in anything other than bone dry conditions i reckon you would need 30mm+

Nice. Might head that way next time I go across the bridge.

Any more details (I could look it up...) - don't know anything about it?

Sure thing. It's a 300 km full moon overnighter to the south coast and then back to Bristol, taking place 23/24th Nov.

Very tempted

Maybe. Either that or a DIY 200 the weekend before.
Rode the North Downs 200 from Cleve RFC last weekend - out to Marlborough and Andover-ish before coming back via Pewsey. Route was good, weather less so.

I've signed up for Moonrakers & Sunseekers. Entries close this Friday. Anyone else?

Not free that weekend.

Totally off topic but...good LBS to get mudguards fitted around Whiteladies? Always go to BikeUK who are great but wondering if there’s anyone else out there.

My local, and favourite are psyclewerx on abbotsford road about 2 min walk from clifton down station. They mostly do mechanic-ing and have a few kids bikes and high end road bikes, but they can get a lot of stuff and have a loyal following. Not a browse kind of shop, more a pop and get sorted type shop.

I'm planning a couple of rides over the xmas break of about 130 miles each on the 27th and 28th if anyone is interested in joining. Start/end in Bristol, one loops up to Abergavenny and the other over to Salisbury.
Just moved down here and have a free weekend. Looking to ride out, overnight somewhere the ride back the following day. Would like to go to Wales but not too fussed. Any suggestions?
