  • I have a Thomson shim which allows you to use any standard A-head stem with a 1" threadless steerer.

Might be a more affordable option if you already have a stem.

  • Yah I've got a shimmed thomson stem currently, but is hardly the most elegant solution.

  • A shim is perfectly sound engineering and suffers from no unwanted movement. Remember the stem should be done up to recommended torque which should allow no movement in use but a bit of "give" in the event of a crash.

  • Buy a Cinelli Sesamo.

    There are tons on eBay

  • I dont care if it's a fine engineering solution, It's not what I want, but y'know thanks for the unsolicited advice.

I know what you mean about a shimmed 1&1/8” stem not exactly being elegant. Not sure if that ^ is elegant though.
