Donohue 631 Twin Tiny Track Bikes!

  • Rare opportunity to own not one but TWO especially small track bikes, either for child/adolescents or diminutive adults. The rolling chassis were bought from this forum by a neighbour of mine for his young twin sons, I helped him make them roadworthy with (new) size appropriate cranks and gearing, new chains, new Tektro brakesets and cables. Since then they have been pretty much unused sadly and circumstances mean they are up for sale again.
Specs of both are similar in most respects:
Donohue steel frame and fork in Reynolds 631 (TIG welded)
    Seat tube 44cm c2c or 46cm c2top, top tube 47cm c2c
    Ritchey Logic 1" headsets
Generic sealed BBs (new) English thread
    New 145mm cranks, 110bcd with 36T chainrings
    New Sturmey Archer 16T freewheels
Used wheels with Miche Primato large flange hubs laced to Mavic CXP33 rims
    Wheels are 650 with 23c tyres (23-571)
    Cheap generic plastic pedals
New Tektro dual pivot calliper brakes with Tektro cross-top levers
San Marco Techno saddles, a bit tatty and the only things not kid-specific really.
    Random seat posts, 27.2mm

The only differences really apart from colour of bar tape is one has 3TTT stem and unbranded bars, the other has a Cinelli 1A and a nice old pair of Cinelli crit bars.

General condition OK, plenty of chips and scratches and one dent on the top tube of the one with orange bar tape, but nothing serious. Otherwise straight and true. Easily converted for track use in fact I am happy to help out with any modifications required, although I am not the vendor I can offer alternate bars, stems, saddles, fixed sprockets and any other mods required by a buyer.

Bikes located in SE1 near Waterloo, sorry but collection only, viewing welcome.

PM me if interested and I will hook you up with the guy selling them. I can answer any questions on specs etc.

Asking prices £285 each (can be sold separately!)

Pics of one bike HERE and the other one HERE!

  • Just found the original convo where these were bought - the tyres in question were replaced with new Kendas (fitted to rear of each bike).

  • These are fantastic small frames, the dimensions are in such good proportion with 650C wheels you don't realise how small they are till you see something else in the picture to give it a sense of scale .
I have a couple with straight bars the kids use on the canal tow path, they call them "speeder bikes" as they leave the other kids standing !

What a great buy for some one. Good luck with the sale .

  • Wow - they are very cool - my twins are now 20 yrs old and 6'3" but if these had been available when they were sprogs, I'd have had them!!

  • Thanks all, yes they are indeed rad/fantastic/cool, if my own boys were not already too big the bikes wouldn't even be here!

  • my twin boys are too small! I'm watching the thread with great interest though.

would he them sell both for a discount?

  • It's certainly worth making a (sensible) offer if you are interested! PM me your opening gambit and I will pass it on... cheers!

  • Hi, if anyone is interested they can DM me as @retrodicorsa is listing them here on my behalf. Please spread the word as they're a great pair of bikes looking for a good home!
