You should, Mavic M33 lock ring won't fit anything else, and nothing else will fit the Ellipse.

  • Did not know this ! Is it a different thread diameter ?

  • Is it a different thread diameter ?

Different diameter and pitch. M33×1.00 for Mavic, vs. 1.290" (32.76mm) and 1.320" (33.53mm) × 24TPI (1.06mm) for ISO and Campag respectively. They're close enough, and thread tolerances are wide enough, that you can gronk Campag and maybe even ISO onto a Mavic hub, but it will damage the hub threads.

  • okay thanks. later today when I'm back home i'll double check both threads.

  • Fun Fact: I bought the Ellipse so soon after they arrived on the market that nobody had matching lock rings for sale, and Sheldon Brown himself ordered some in from Mavic so that I could buy them from Harris Cyclery

  • Plus they’re like £9 each and made of warm butter...

  • I Might as well bin the wheels then

  • £9 each and made of warm butter...

It would certainly be better if they were £12.50 like DuraAce, as long as they were as well made as DuraAce :)

  • As long as it’s my bin....

  • Might as well bin the wheels

Well, nobody is going to want them now that the Ellipse Pro Carbon UST has been announced :)

  • That’s a road wheel though right?

  • I owned tons of Mavic rims in the 80’s and loved them to bits.
Nowadays however, after briefly owning a pair of Ellipse, Mavic can fucken do one! I’ll never buy one of their products again tbh...

  • Well this isn’t selling my wheels ;) price drop to 145 for these

  • That’s a road wheel

No. They have been developed for brakeless so they probably won't have provision for any sort of brake, which makes them useless for road but fine for track and comedy fixie biek criteriums.

  • this isn’t selling my wheels ;)

Search my comment stream for Ellipse if you want pull quotes to attract buyers :)

  • Price drop

  • last chance before eBay

  • Hi there,
if there are still for sale, how much without tyres posted to Romania, please?
    Thank you.
