  • Bought a bargain frameset at the end of last year to celebrate more or less getting over an injury. Wasn’t keen on the AG2R paintwork so sanded it back to the bare carbon over the winter. May get Cole Coatings to add a clear coat and subtle details later in the year but quite happy with it for now. Sanding took forever and challenged my patience and sanity.

It’s my only bike so used everyday, all year, hence the filth. Cracked my seatpost yesterday so can’t run my lookalike SMP until replacement in-line post arrives.

  • I say get a paint job worthy of the time and effort!!

  • oh man - i've always liked these frames

  • That looks pretty slick, clearcoat would probably be a good idea.

  • Using a UV protectant for now to stop any yellowing.

Really like the simple finishing on the Tsubasa bikes so taking that as inspiration for the moment.

  • I was tempted .. overall build weight and what wheels?

  • nice i am looking for one of those frames to buy

  • So how much weight does a paint removal save (+/-) ?
Tempted to do it myself, but the frame is brand new... so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

  • All that hard work for around 250g . I rather buy some lighter components . Each To Their Own ;)

  • Why did you buy the bike if you didn't like the colour sheme ?have you thought off getting it wrapped then buy some lighter components to balance out the extra weight of the wrap..

  • Weighs just shy of 8kg at the moment though the same scales said 7.7kg a few weeks back... so maybe somewhere between the two. Wheels are DT Swiss 240, 28/28, D-Light spokes, brass bits, DT Swiss 460 rims. Built by SBC and bombproof. Hubs were bought on eBay new for a steal and those rims are cheap and light. 58cm, 28mm tyres, powermeter, discs, silly stem so never going to be super light.

Don’t know what weight was saved in sanding, wasn’t really the motivation. There was a lot of white paint but can’t imagine it weighs anything significant. I wanted to see what the carbon layup looked like and if there was anything to be done in highlighting that.

Discount on frameset was something like 75% so even if I splurge on a crazy paint job it’d come in less than RRP.

Great fun bike if anyone was considering one.

  • Don't forget a clear coat lacquer or the resin will go off .;)

  • Using 303 protectant which I think Calfee/Parlee use on their naked frames so hopefully okay for now!

  • Color is fine, I like it... the frame is a NOS 2010 model. I'm just tempted to go weight weenie mode.

  • 2010 that must have been cheap .good fine:-)

  • yes if it was still available in this size

  • Ahh page is not very clear. Is it sold out ?
