Help me pick the right size

Posted on
  • Hi, I've been off for a while & without a fixed gear for too long.
My knees are shot & the budgets tight so I'm going pretty basic with an se draft lite I think.

The issue is size. I've no way to try one locally so I'm going off the size chart.
I had a plug but can't remember which size, it was a gate tho so in hoping to get a better fit this time.

I'm 6ft with a 31 inside leg so it puts me between the 55 & 58. I just don't have enough exposure to track bikes up north to know which is the right size

    Cheers

  • Anyone ?

  • I can't give you any specific advice but if you land between two sizes the best way to choose might be to go for what you want in terms of feel... The smaller frame will be ever so slightly snappier while the bigger frame will feel a bit more stable.

If you're six foot though you probably would want the 58. Or as it's CRC you're ordering from you could just use the question form to ask them for some advice?

  • I’m 6”2 and find 58s too big. I prefer a 56 with long stem and more drop to the bars. Nobody is going to be able to tell you what size is best unfortunately. There’s a range of sizes that can work for any one person. The rest is preference

  • It's hard as there's only 3 fixed riders around here nowadays. The lbs don't stock them etc.
When I got the plug they were everywhere so that was an easy buy, I still got the wrong size though.

I've just measured my knackered hybrid and the stand over and seat tube come in about the same as a 55. Is that going to be a good indicator?

  • You can always take a punt on it and send it back for an exchange if you get it wrong?

  • I've spent a bit measuring & re-measuring using my hybrid & it looks like its the 55 but an inch shorter tt.
Unsure of the much shorter head tube. I'm hoping it's pretty raked & won't cripple me too much.

  • Well it's arrived, I gambled on the 55 and it's spot on.
Currently ripping several bikes to bits for nicer parts to stick on this and make some more space.
    Cheers for your help 🖒
