  • Found a Leader in my size.
Looking at building it with an almost complete Croce D'aune group and GP4.
    Forgive the picture quality.

  • Subbed

  • Levers are 2nd Gen C Record as I have found it difficult to find a nice pair of "powergrade" levers for an affordable price.

  • Front derailleur will probably be C Record as I find it looks better than the Chorus used for Cda.

  • But..... but..... the group set is too old for that Leader..... Also I assume you've got yourself one of those pain in the arse to find expanding seat posts? I only mention the group set because my AX is such a pleasure to ride that I can't imagine riding it with down tube shifters & Deltas, if anything go more modern (I'm always thinking of 'upgrading' from 8sp Campag to 10 speed Ultegra that I have on another bike and will the day the 8 sp dies, but for now the campag 8sp is solid and more dependable than the Ultegra......) , you won't be disappointed, Leader AX is an amazing bike to ride

  • I've also done a 10 Speed group on a 90s frame (Merckx Leader with DA 7800)

  • Special seat post - Yes I have that.
The Leader frame is 93' and I think that the Cda was produced until 90' so I don't think it's too far from each other and love my other bikes with DT shifters.

  • It's true the earlier Leaders did have group sets not so far from what you're planning (and look sweet!) https://www.flickr.com/photos/cronobikes/5232071293/ One day, though, treat yourself, put something a bit more modern and responsive on there (even if by only a few years) and you won't regret it. There will always be a special place in my heart for my Moser AX, I've done thousands of km on it and it's still my first choice for bombing across town.

  • Looking forward to see this completed.

  • Dan, I'm really curious to see that finished!!! It's true what @mellion said: Croce is too old for this AX (but not too much). So let's see the result!!!

This is mine with c-record (not yet upgraded):

I forgot to show you the substitute of this one:
Leader AX94 - Team Jolly componibili/Cage (Zenon Jaskula)

  • Wow, a frame from one of the greatest Polish pro riders ever. Great find mate!

  • Also known as the glass eating GB-rider.

  • Maybe I've invented a new type of build -
    It's not period correct,
    it's not retro /modern
    :)

  • There's an ITM Moser panto'd 100mm stem if you're interested https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/315663/#comment14047173

  • Old groupset on a modern frame?

  • Retro-neo.

  • Nice one, bought it.

  • @Jimmy_Fingers @Poetic
I like both idea's for this build.

  • Group together. Just need to find some time to get it fitted.
