SRAM PG1170 too wide for the hub?

  • I'm fitting a SRAM Force 11 speed in a Powerway hub. Somehow it the thing is sitting a bit outwards and the locking is only engaging a few threads.
Looks dodgy, surely something is not right. Checked the hub body, apparently is 11 speed wide. Last cog looks about 2mm out of the hub. Something I'm missing?

  • I assume you’ve checked there are no spacers on the hub? There is no spacer required for sram cassettes between the hub and the largest cog.

  • No, there's no spacers. Apparently I'm not the first one that have the same problem with Force 22

I'm absolutely stumped. Only thing I can think of is going to LBS to see if I can try any other cassette

  • I'd compare both the cassette and the freehub with some that are known to work.

Then you'll know which part is at fault, which will dictate the possible remedies.

  • Yeah, next logical step to do, not looking forward to remove the cassette of my winter bike :(
