Dawes Galaxy Reynolds 631 56cm tourer

Posted on
  • I’m selling my Dawes Galaxy, 2006 model. It’s a brilliant, well loved, long distance tourer, but I don’t get to do many of those at the moment, so it has to go.

It’s Reynolds 631 frame (56cm seat tube, 57cm top tube), in fairly good shape, with no dents, but some scratches and marks here and there.

There’s a Shimano triple chainset (Tiagra front mech, Deore rear mech, 11-32 cassette), with bar end levers (indexed rear, unindexed front).

It’s got WTB Dual Duty rims on Shimano hubs, both in good shape, running true. It has 28C front and 32C rear Schwalbe Marathon tyres – not sure why they're different - I think I never got round to replacing one of them. I’ve got a new 28C spare so could replace the 32C with that if you want. The front mudguard has some slight damage, but doesn’t cause any problems. Could probably take pretty hefty tyres if you wanted.

The brakes are cantilever (Suntour XC rear, Tektro Onyx front), and probably need the pads replacing.

The bars are 44cm wide, with a 110mm stem. The tape is pretty tatty and definitely needs replacing.

No pedals supplied, and I’ve put a bog standard Marin saddle from my parts bin on it for the sale.

Collection available from E5 most weekday evenings and weekends.

The same model has gone recently on eBay for between £360 and £480, so let’s call it £300.
