Autoglym metal polish has worked for me.

Residue remover work well if you need to buy something. Zippo fuel, lynx deodorant and nail polish are equally effective. I’ve never had an issue taking paint with it.

AVOID acetone etc, I've seen it do damage to factory paint and powdercoat. If the remains are plastic / rubber glue then try a little wamth to soften it up. Else GT85 and delicate use of a knife blade will get it done.

I've used t-cut as well as brasso in the past. GT85, WD40, lighter fuel work like folks have already said.
This stuff if you want to buy stuff:

Thanks guys. Have tried WD40 with little success, will lighter fluid work better perhaps, before going down the buying stuff route?
Have a vintage frame that I've slowly but surely peeled the old decals from, but it's left a pretty serious residue on the frame. i've heard wd40 can be magical in getting this kind of stuff off, but have tried a bit with not much luck.
I'm pretty sure nail polish remover would do the trick but am wary so as not to damage the paint...should I be worried about this or is there nothing to be afraid of?
