Hillingdon Velodrome

You may have read in Cycling Weekly that Hillingdon has planning permission for an outdoor 250 m banked track in the middle of the existing circuit. There will be little in the way of facilities for spectators, so its intended for training and minor racing rather than the sort of events that LVVP/HH put on.

They do need £1.25 million to build the thing though, and are looking for expressions of support from potential users in order to influence potential funding (e.g. from the Lottery). There's an email address in the link below if you want to show some support for a west London track.

Serious news..seriously lacking.
It's just a jungle in the middle anyway.
And tbh they need to close walking access as there are public footpaths on it and people pissing about.

site barely suitable for the road circuit they already have due to public access/safety
also outdoor tracks are better when 333-500 for extra usage and larger group sizes. A tarmac 250 that only 16 novices can ride round when it's not raining isn't the greatest investment.

It would be better to build a larger, shallower track somewhere nearby with appropriate facilities and location.

Or just renovate Reading

I think they'll have close off the site so it's a dedicated cycling site to work. It's could become the premier site for cycling in london.
And you can have blinding curry after racing

Not sure the site will ever be closed off, Minet Park is a public park with rights of way all over it.
How else can you add extra excitement to racing without people walking dogs out in front of a bunch or chavs breaking into judging huts or crack addicts staggering around?

The more I think about I don't think this velodrome will ever be built. Would have be a great place to blaze zoot in the middle and watch someone hammer it round. The crackheads will be disappointed
