• Hi all,

    With regret I'm putting my Peugeot Competition 510 up for sale. I bought the bike about 6 months ago to start up cycling again after relocating to Reading, looking for something well spec'd at a good price but unfortunately due to moving in with the mrs with no place to store this, it's got to go. I managed to stumble across this beauty, which appears not to have been ridden much since new - likely built in 1997. After picking up the bike I decided to get a full service from my LBS, as I didn't have time to re-index the brakes and true the wheels etc (plus they through in some new bar tape to cover Rule #8). The bike is functionally great particularly since the service (you can't beat the Campagnolo free wheel click!) with some minor cosmetic scratches. The seat post is the major cosmetic flaw, as it was fairly seized when I bought it. With a lot of effort and GT85, I got it free, but you can see the cosmetic remnants of the seized area in the pictures, now partially covered in copper grease. Otherwise, I think this a great bike and hopefully good for the price with Columbus tubing, a Campagnolo groupset and an awesome colour. The bullets below roughly cover the spec, if you want any more information, please ask away:

    • Frame size: Seat tube 57 ctc/ Top tube 58 ctc;
    • Frame tubing: Columbus Thron, fillet brazed;
    • Colour: Metallic purple (hopefully the pictures indicate this, it's similar to the Mercian colour 'flamboyant purple' as I had a Pista in this colour);
    • Groupset: Campagnolo Avanti throughout, with a Mirage chainset which was the previous equivalent in the Campagnolo range (I've neglected to count the teeth on the cassette or chainrings, but it's fairly compact);
    • Wheels: Mavic (UB Control) rims laced to Campagnolo quick release hubs;
    • Tyres: Halfords specials, 25 x 700c (plenty of tread but I'd planned to replace);
    • Bars: 42 cm Atax italia;
    • Stem: 100 mm (unknown on brand without removing again);
    • Seatpost: Aero layback post (unknown diameter or brand without removing, I'd guess 26.8 -27.2 mm);
    • Seat: Sella Italia Century Saddle (much like a Flite in profile and feel, if not more comfy and rarer);
    • Pedals: Generic Campagnolo flat pedals;
    • Accessories: Cheap bottle cage (note the bike will not come with the lights, unless it's a deal breaker...);
    • I'll chuck in a spare tyre it came with as well.

    Based on the spec and recent full service, I'd like to ask for £275 cash on collection anywhere in Reading.

    I'm also happy to deliver by car anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Reading (apart from London) for an extra tenner. I will consider couriering the bike, if I'm struggling to find a buyer, but I'll hold out for collection or local delivery if possible.

    Please see the pictures below and any questions, just ask.

    -Phil

    Still happy to deliver by car anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Reading (apart from London) for an extra tenner. I will consider couriering the bike or meet up in London, if I'm struggling to find a buyer, but I'll hold out for collection or local delivery if possible.

    Thanks,

    Phil

  • Hi all,

    I'm keen to get this to a good home and out of my living room, so final price drop to £225.

    Same collection/delivery conditions as above, if no takers I'll happily move the ad onto gumtree but I thought I'd give some cycling enthusiasts a chance first, it's been great coming back to LFGSS classifieds and all of the steel pr0n :)

  • Famous last words above. Final, final price drop: £200 with a £5 forum donation.
