Fingers crossed for a full recovery

Hoping for a recovery, though doesn't sound good.

It sounds very bad. I can't remember the last time someone recovered when the initial reporting was like that. Here's hoping for a miracle.

Let's hope this guy had brakes... if not the gutter press will love it.
Oxford street is great to cycle off peak. But during busy times it's a mass of diesel fumes and gridlock, I end up weaving cautiously but you could easily get caught out by a tourist looking the wrong way or pedestrian crossing and not expecting a cyclist.
I'm not sure if the eventual pedestrianisation will be good thing or not. The amount of buses is phenomal where will they go? Sadiq is very pro bus. -

The pictures in the standard show a geared bike, but that won't stop the anti-cycling mob piling in.
-
• #7
A geared bike with disc brakes. And flat bars. Not made for speed or racing.

I thought it looked like a Boris Bike
-
• #9
Please let the rider be Boris.

Apparently he's not allowed to cycle since getting his ministerial position.

My hopes are with this poor woman just now.
We don't know if the bike in the photo is the one involved in the crash, it may belong to someone first on the scene of the crash.
This crash is worrying after the Kim Briggs death and this one at Ride London https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/woman-67-who-was-critically-injured-in-crash-with-ridelondon-cyclist-dies-in-hospital-a3630906.html -

Oddly, this report put the woman in her 40s, not her 70s as in the standard report.

Very difficult to guess this sort of thing. I witnessed the lady killed by a tipper truck on Wigmore St a year or so ago. I could have sworn she was in her 40's/50's even though I didn't see her face, but she turned out to be in her 90's.
Likely won't be confirmed until she is identified and I hope she is able to confirm that information herself, should she chose.

Terrible news, hoping for a full recovery.

Oh my goodness. Whatever the outcome of any enquiry this is truly tragic news for this poor lady's family and friends. Spare a moment and check your ride today. Add in an extra smile and give way even when its not essential. Accidents happen to even the most cautious folks including cyclists and pedestrians.

give way even when its not essential
Not the best advice, in my experience.

Standard article:
Very sad.
The cyclist stopped at the scene and was arrested after police checks showed he was wanted in connection with an unrelated alleged offence involving criminal damage, Scotland Yard said.

This is gonna get messy for some one.

Am sorry for her friends and family.
Easy to forget when one says 'woman in her 70s', one starts to disassociate, but this lady may be a wife, mother, or like my mum in her 70s, a grandmother...
So thoughts to those that know her

Just a gesture. Just for today Jon. Just for pedestrians. Just to maybe make a small difference when folks will read the news this morning and be tempted to condemn us all.

No disrespect to the deceased or pedestrians intended. Of course, give way where it is expected but waving people out (where it's not anticipated), in my experience, is the number one cause of accidents or near misses in central London. It only serves to make already congested roads even more unpredictable.
Very bad news. Here's hoping she survives, but such reporting is always ominous.
