Terrible. Used to ride that road every day on my way home.

This was very close to my flat, I had to divert around this morning as the road was closed - tent in the road... very sad news. I just can't quite get my head around how this happened it is a straight stretch of road with no junctions, segregated bus lanes etc.

The report indicates that it happened at the Camden Road/Brecknock Road/York Way junction. Did you see it differently?

There are all sorts of factors that may have played a role, pointless to speculate at this stage until more information comes out.

Exactly - useless to speculate. It just looked from my brief glimpse that it was a little further up and away from the junction closer to the Hilldrop road bus stop. Anyway - absolutely rubbish.

Another gyratory system ...

We don't know yet if it had anything to do with the gyratory (although gyratories generally do have a worse crash record for bike riders than other kinds of environments). It could have been that the van driver hit the bike rider at the junction or along the stretch of Camden Road, and Camden Road isn't part of the Camden Park Road/Torriano Avenue/Brecknock Road/York Way gyratory.
